Nandi Portal
Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala launched the NANDI Portal (NOC approval for new drugs and vaccination systems) on 26 June 2023 at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. The NANDI portal has been developed to digitize and streamline the regulatory approval process in the animal health sector of India. The portal has been launched in collaboration with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and Center for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC).
The objective of the portal is to timely process the applications and provide No Objection Certificate (NOC) for these essential products. With the growing demand for veterinary products, especially due to the ongoing livestock vaccination drive, the Nandi portal will play a vital role in expediting the approval process.
Benefits of NANDI Portal
- The manual system of granting permissions for import, manufacture and marketing of veterinary drugs and vaccines has been replaced by the Nandi portal.
- This digital platform is seamlessly integrated with the Sugam portal of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and the Drugs Controller General of India, ensuring a more efficient and streamlined approval process.
- Applicants will now be required to submit their applications for NOC through Nandi Portal. The application will be sent to the Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department from the CDSCO Sugam portal.
- Applicants can easily submit their dossiers online using a single login credential, thereby ensuring a seamless experience.
- The Empowered Committee on Animal Health, comprising experts in the field, will review the applications on the basis of urgency and desirability. The committee will play a key role in ensuring that only quality veterinary products are approved that protect the health of animals.
- Once the application is approved, NOC will be generated online and issued to the applicant immediately. This digital process eliminates the need for manual paperwork and significantly reduces the time required to obtain the required certificates.
- The Nandi portal is aligned with the Animal Epidemic Preparedness Initiative (APPI) and serves as an important tool to strengthen the country's preparedness for potential animal pandemics. By expediting the approval process for veterinary drugs and vaccines, the portal contributes to timely availability of essential products during critical times.
